SUMMARY:Register Now for the CH4 Connections Conference October 4-5, 2023 – Fort Collins, CO
DESCRIPTION:CH4 Connections Conference 2023 Agenda\n(All times subject to change. Please check back for updates.)\nCharting a Path to Success by 2030\nNational focus has escalated around characterizing and managing methane emissions. Better measurement of methane emissions is an essential first step but CH4 Connections will highlight the importance of measurement data being understandable and usable by the operators that are going to have to mitigate those emissions. The conference will focus on how to effectively decarbonize our energy systems and the role of methane emission mitigation in these efforts.\nPre-Conference (One day before CH4 Connections Conference)\nTuesday October 3, 2023 9:00-4:00pm MT (with lunch)\nMEET Training Workshop (Additional Cost)\nLocation: Powerhouse Energy Campus classroom, 420 N. College Ave, Ft Collins, CO\nCSU will hold a training workshop for the Methane Emissions Estimation Toolkit (MEET), an emissions simulation tool for oil and gas facilities. MEET utilizes mechanistic simulation methods to develop realistic, time-varying, emissions behavior for common facility processes in upstream and midstream sectors.\nMEET results are useful for understanding the performance of leak detection and quantification (LDAQ) methods, emission mitigation interventions, and leak detection and repair (LDAR) programs. MEET also provides simulated emissions for a wide range of sensing or equipment for emissions mitigation studies.\nTarget Audience:\nCourse will provide a fundamental understanding of time-series modeling of emissions – methods, inputs, and results. Course will not cover the detailed mechanics of running MEET and analyzing MEET results.\nEngineers, scientists, or technical supervisors. Examples:\nO&G Industry: Staff working on LDAR programs, emissions mitigation, or regulatory reporting.\nRegulators or environmental NGOs: Understanding basin- or facility-scale emissions causes, accuracy, and variability for advanced modeling or emission surveys.\nTraining Format:\nTraining is split across two half days. Students are encouraged to bring laptop computers to follow along with course materials.\nOutline:\nIntroduction to mechanistic modeling\nComparison of inventory and mechanistic models, including inputs and outputs\nDeveloping mechanistic models from physical modeling and facility design\nPractical limitations of mechanistic modeling\nModeling of routine emissions and non-routine failure modes\nTypical input data required for facility modeling\nEquipment types and interconnections\nGas compositions\nAnalysis of MEET outputs for common topics, with examples such as:\nSimulation of sampling surveys\nEmissions change after applying a mitigation measure\nUse of speciated emission compositions\nPre-Conference (Morning before CH4 Connections Conference)\nWednesday October 4, 2023 8:00 – 11:00am MT\nVeritas: A GTI Energy Methane Emissions Measurement and Verification Initiative (Additional Cost)\nLocation: North Ballroom (third floor, on other side of building from the large ballroom that the conference will be held in) – Lory Student Center, Colorado State University\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n8:00 – 8:05 AM\nWelcome Remarks\nErin Blanton, Vice President, Zero Emissions Systems, GTI Energy\n\n\n8:05 – 8:30 AM\nVeritas Reception by Industry, Associations, and Regulatory Agencies\nAmanda Harmon, Senior Manager, Zero Emissions Systems, GTI Energy\n\n\n8:30 – 9:15 AM\nPanel – 2023 Testing Findings and Learnings\nModerator: Matt Harrison, Senior Principal – Air Quality, SLR International Corporation\n\n\nPanelist: Participating Operators – TBD\n\n\n\n\n9:15 – 9:30 AM\nBREAK\n\n\n9:30 – 9:45 AM\nUncertainty Guidance and Sample Planning\nZachary Weller, Institute Scientist, Digital Innovation, GTI Energy\n\n\n\n9:45 – 10:00 AM\nReport Template and Example Reports\n\nZachary Weller, Institute Scientist, Digital Innovation, GTI Energy\nMarta Guerrero Merino, Principal Engineer, Research & Engineering, GTI Energy\n\n\n\n\n10:00 – 10:30 AM\nPanel – Assurance Training and Pilot\nModerator: Kevin Leodinh, Principal Scientist, Engineering Operations, GTI Energy\n\n\nPanelist: Participating Operators – TBD\n\n\n\n\n10:30 – 10:45 AM\nOGMP2.0 and Veritas\nThomas Fox, President, Highwood Emissions Management\n\n\n\n10:45 – 11:00 AM\nVeritas Leadership Team Address\n\n\nErin Blanton, Managing Advisor – Veritas\nAmanda Harmon, Executive Director – Veritas\nSrijana Rai, Technical Director – Veritas\nNatalia Gielczowski, Program Administrator – Veritas\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConference Day 1: Wednesday October 4, 2023 (all times in U.S. Mountain Time Zone)\nLocation: Lory Student Center, Colorado State University\nAdditional speakers to be announced.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n7:00 AM – 5:30 PM\nRegistration and Information Desk\n\n\n11:30 AM – Noon\nLunch, Networking, and Exhibits\n\n\nNoon – 12:10 PM\nOpening Remarks:\n\nErin Blanton, Vice President, Zero Emissions Systems, GTI Energy\nBryan Willson, Executive Director, Energy Institute, Colorado State University\n\n\n\n\n\nSECTION 1 – THE NEW REGULATORY LANDSCAPE\n\n\n12:10 – 12:40 PM\nFireside chat\nModerator: Bryan Willson, Executive Director, Energy Institute, Colorado State University\n\n\n12:40 – 1:30 PM\nPanel Session #1: Federal Regulation and MMRV Frameworks\nModerator: Hon Xing Wong, Program Manager, Zero Emissions Systems Team, GTI Energy\n\n\nPanelist #1: Tom Curry, Director of Policy and Analysis, Office of Resource Sustainability, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)\nPanelist #2: Megan Hays, Managing Director, Head of Sustainable Investment & Engagement, Kimmeridge\nPanelist #3: Lesley Feldman, Research and Analysis Manager, Methane Pollution Prevention, Research and Analysis Manager, Methane Pollution Prevention, Clean Air Task Force\n\n\n\n\n1:30 – 1:50 PM\nBREAK, NETWORKING, EXHIBITS\n\n\n1:50 – 2:20 PM\nKeynote #1: Reducing Methane Emissions: Ambition in Action\nPaula A.
